Just wondered, I never hear anything about it any more, did we actually stop it from getting larger, is it getting smaller
has the layer become thinner or is it returning to normal, since the banning of freon

Kay, there is NO hole in the ozone layer. There is an area where the layer is thinner than normal, but NO hole.

Think about it. If there was a hole, we'd all be burning to death.

edit: I'm assuming it's getting thinner. Sure, we banned freon, but we still have things such as UV rays, CFCs, etc. And even so if we did ban those things, they would still exist in the air, and be trapped on Earth. If you go here http://library.thinkquest.org/11353/ozone.htm you will see that the amount of ClO is rising, and the ozone is decreasing, and will most likely continue to decrease.

It's impossible to tell!  Because there is no way to determine what effect it had originally!
