What is hydrostatic pressure - how is it created?     This is for a human physiology lab.  It is referring to osmosis, diffusion.  An answer of that nature would be best

pressure created by liquid
atoms n molecules exerts pressure(gravitational wt)
n it in increases going deep (atomic pressure inc)
no relation bet osmosis n diffusion

Hydrostatic pressure
Considering a small cube of liquid at rest below a free surface, the weight of the liquid above must be balanced by a pressure in this small cube. For an infinitely small cube the stress is the same in all directions and liquid weight or equivalent pressure can be expressed as

P= pgh+ Pa
where,

P is the hydrostatic pressure;
? is the liquid density;
g is gravitational acceleration;
h is the height of liquid above;
Pa is the atmospheric pressure.
