I recently got a public intoxication out of state and am planning on getting it expunged, and I was wondering how much it will hurt my chances of getting into a medical school.  I know people say that misdemeanors aren't usually a big deal but I had to spend the night in jail and have a court date so i thought it was pretty serious and could really hurt my chances.  Does anybody know anyone who has gone through a similar experience and how did it work out?

misdemeanors aren't all that serious.
every misdemeanor gets a court date.

but it could hurt your chances depending on which college you want to apply to.
colleges that are only taking the best of the best probably wouldn't take anybody with criminal charges.
other colleges probably would.

Are you 21 or older? I'm sure that if you are, you can legally drink which makes things a little bit better. If you aren't, just try to get it expunged and stay out of trouble for the rest of your college days.

It could hurt
most schools require that you list all convictions
(other than traffic)
plus residency requires the same
some states might ask for explanation
when applying for a medical license

They ask about felony arrests only, don't worry. Quit acting a fool in public or you won't get in or may have to go to a Carribean School

Not an issue.
I have been on the admission committee of a medical school for 5 years.
Felony arrests must be reported (and could nullify your application).
We are not interested in misdemeanors unless they involve drugs, violence or theft.

But drunk and disorderly? Please.
If we bonged applicants for drunken naked sprints across campus we'd never admit anyone.

Keep your nose out of the beer and in the books.
