Should I leave international medical school for a masters program so I can go to a US medical school?

I am a first semester medical student at an international medical school in the Caribbean and although I am doing okay grade wise I am incredibly home sick. I also am dating someone back home and worried that I will end up as one of the many people getting dumped at this school. We had some hard times and when I left it was when things just started getting better. I also have made friends, but no one who I am particularly close too, which gets a little lonely. Would it be worth it to drop out here, go back to the US and get my masters degree or do a post bac program, retake the MCATs, and try again there? It would most likely save a relationship with the person who I believe to be my soul mate (assuming those exist). Or would this be me blowing a huge opportunity because I already am in medical school?
