I am currently studying the chemistry of Amines.

I am wondering whether or not a compound containing two -NO2 groups bonded to a Benzene ring are BOTH reduced, or is just one of them reduced?

For example, I have 1,4-dinitrobenzene. Will both of the -NO2 groups in this compound be reduced to -NH2, or will only one -NO2 group be reduced?

Thanks for your help!

As long as this is sufficient reducing agent, then yes.
