Glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis occur in the liver in response to
a) insulin
b) glucagon
c) aldosterone
d) PTH
e) PRL

THe most important regulator of extracellular electrolyte concentrations is
a) calcitonin
b) glucagon
c) thyroxine
d) aldosterone
e) ADH

ADH
a) is a mineralocorticoid responsible for water balance
b) release is controlled by hypothalamic releasing factors
c) causes systematic vasodilation
d) is released in response to hypertonic stimulation of hypothalamic osmoreceptors
e) none of the above, it is released from the kidneys

Selective destruction of the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex would produce a deficiency in which of the following?
a) cortisol
b) DHEA
c) progesterone
d) aldosterone
e) epinephrine

All the following statements are true except
a) both ADH and aldosterone tend to lead to water retention and an increase in blood pressure
b) PTH participates in the synthesis of vitamin D and therefore enhances Ca^2+ absorption
c) PTH activates osteoclasts leading to bone destruction
d) tetany is a sign of insufficient Ca^2+
e)ADh and oxytocin pass to the posterior pituitary via hypothalamic-hypophyseal portal system

need some help. thank you!

c) causes systematic vasodilation Nope - Atrial natriuretic peptide

ADH helps to maintain the blood volume. when the blood volume decreases the receptors in the heart atrium send impulses up the brain to cause a release of ADH from the pituatary gland that signals to the kidneys to release adh to work on the collecting ducts of the nephrons within the kidneys to make them less permeable to water. Thus, saving the release of fluid and causing an increase in fluid and increase in blood volume.
