In putting the ice in the calorimeter, is it better to use hot water instead of just tap water? Why or Why not?

As long as you know the initial temperature and mass, the water does not matter. However, if the temperature of the tap water is too close to that of the ice, there might not be a significant change in temperature. That would cause the calculations to be more difficult with more error.
