A 5 lbm gun fires a 0.05 lbm bullet. The bullet leaves the gun at a velocity of 1500 ft/s in the x direction. If the gun is not restrained, what is its velocity just after the bullet leaves?

momentum of gun and bullet are equal and opposite -
so mass x velocity is same for both
but mass of gun is 100x that of bullet - so velocity of gun will be 1/100 that of bullet
so velocity of gun = 1500/100 = 15ft/s
