If or when the Higgs particle is discovered, what practical applications could we expect from this discovery?

Will there be any practical applications if the Higgs boson is proven to exist. Will it give us better ways to produce energy; will it provide methods to produce new kinds of metamaterials or creating faster electronics and computers, or is this just science for science sake.

Who knows. I doubt that when the electron was discovered anyone had any inkling of the electronic and digital revolution that it would lead to.

I expect it will be a long time before there will be any practical applications for this, but the more we learn of the structures and properties of matter, the better we can later know how to manipulate it for the needs we have,

Time travel, then I can avoid marrying Hubby #1.
Probably some kind of extra powerful energy that is too strong to power our cars. But is just the right strength to power a ship in space.
