The Trail of Tears
A) involved the deadly forced march of 12,000 Cherokee Indians from their homelands in Georgia thousands of miles west to new territory in Oklahoma, resulting in the deaths of perhaps 4,000 Cherokee men, women, and children.
B) did not involve the support of U.S. Army personnel, but only state militias, because many army units refused to participate in such a coercive, deadly, and dubious legal military action against the Cherokees.
C) prompted the Seminoles of Florida Territory to leave Florida and move west on their own in order to avoid extinction.
D) occurred prior to the Second Creek War of 1836-37 when President Jackson's secretary of war ordered federal troops to expel all Creeks from land east of the Mississippi.
