1 -- Critical pathways are often used in conjunction with case management models and/or quality improvement efforts. Both critical pathways and case management involve providing care or overseeing care to a group of patients having similar diagnoses. Primary nursing refers to the provision of all nursing care by a single assigned nurse. Functional nursing is not a recognized term. In team nursing, the care is provided based upon the education level of the team members.
