Which of the following pedigrees is not possible for inheritance of a X-linked trait? It appears that males inherit a condition from their mothers and not their fathers.

Question 43 options:

A.

C.

B.

D.

I think its C but I'm not sure.

I must choose "B" I'm not sure but I think B is much closer?

im on this question too... but I think C is correct for the following reasons.

Father is XrY(positive for the trait), They have 1 son which is also positive for the trait therefor Mom has to be XRXr because the father gives his X to his daughters. The mother Gives her X's to Son and Daughter. So if son is XrY mom has to have Xr and since mom is shown not to be affected she must be XRXr. Now the possibilities for the daughters can be either (XRXr or XrXr) no Daughters are shown affected so the daughter on the far right must be XRXr crossed with a man (non affected so XRY) the results for there offspring would be true for the affected son but the possibilities for the daughter offsprings are not true as it shows a daughter is affected... and XRXr cross XRY produces (XRXR or XRXr daughters) which are all dominant and not recessive (XrXr) to the trait. Just my thought. Never double checked the other ones to be certain but C for sure isnt completely X-linked. Turning in the assignment today and will post back what the answer is.
