I have a simple 44,000 uF capacitor bank made of electrolytic capacitors. I discharge it using a scr thyristor. But when i discharge it, the voltage of the capacitor bank goes from 150 down to -16 volts (an it get worse with high voltages). How do i eliminate the negative voltage?

You must be getting an inductive kick from the discharge that is creating a voltage spike.   You can try placing a diode across the cap to prevent reverse voltage from building up.

As Mark suggested, put a diode across the bank. I'd use something substantial, 1N4002.

You could also put a power resistor in series with the thyristor to reduce the peak discharge current. For 150 volts, a 200 ohm 20 watt resistor will limit the current to under an amp.
