1,2,3,4 -- “Bennies” is a term used to describe amphetamines. Substance dependence can be associated with withdrawal symptoms from the substance. Fatigue and confusion are withdrawal symptoms associated with the use of amphetamines. When patients are unsuccessfully attempting to cut down on their use of the substance, this is another behavior associated with substance dependence. Patients are more likely to develop tolerance to the drug. It is unlikely that a patient with substance dependence is continuing to keep a full-time job because the patient will usually spend a lot of time procuring and using the drug. They invest less time with occupational activities.
