Why we exprees atomic mass in gram? And is 1 amu equal to 1 gram?

AMU is atomic mass units.  It's nowhere near grams.
It's less than a trillionth of a gram.

The beauty of the # on the bottom of each elements box on the table is that the # is the MOLECULAR WEIGHT in AMU, and the GRAM weight for 1 mole.  Only the units change.
