The atomic masses that are listed in the periodic table are not whole numbers. Why?

Thats because all samples of elements have isotopes(isotopes are atoms of the same element with same atomic number obviously,but different atomic masses) and atomic mass is calculated as the average of atomic masses of all the isotopes for each element.Also,precision figures and accuracy faux pas also play their role.
