Suppose that atomic masses were based on the assignment of a mass of 12.000 g to 1 mol of carbon, rather than 1 mol of Carbon-12. Find the new atomic mass of silver (amu).

I'm not sure how to manipulate this....

1 mole ordinary carbon = 12.011 amu = 12 exactly bsu (blddy silly units)

rel mass silver = 107.8682 amu x 12bsu/12.011amu = your answer

Ask your teacher why the atomic mass of C is quoted officially only to 5 sig figs, while Ag is quoted to 7 sig figs. There is actually a very good reason.
