Intro to Chemistry

Firstly you weight 6 of the coins (3 at one side of the pan balance and 3 at the other.). If a side of the pan balance is heavier, you will know that these 3 coins at the certain side includes the 1980 penny. If the weight of both sides are equal, then the 1980 penny is included to the other 3 pennies which you didn't weight.
So now you have 3 pennies, one of which is heavier (1980 penny). You weight two of these pennies (one at one side, one at the other). If one is heavier, then it is the 1980 penny. If they are equal, then the penny you didn't weight is the correct one.

What that has to do with chemistry?

That is what I put down. It was just an extra question in the lab book that we did not need to do at all.
