4 -- The pre-procedural care for the colonoscopy requires the patient to be n.p.o. for eight hours. Enemas or laxatives are administered before the procedure, not after. Full-liquid intake is recommended for two days before the procedure. The patient will be positioned on the left side before the procedure.
