I've heard both sides of the story, and im taking it right now im on my second day. What would treat a yeast infection?

No.  Metronidazole is only effective against certain types of bacteria, but has no effect on yeast.

I agree with the prior poster. To my knowledge, metronidazole (flagyl) has no effect against fungal species(yeast is one) - its primary activity is against anerobic bacterial species.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic. Antibiotics don't cure yeast infections - on the contrary, they tend to kill the very bacteria that prevent yeast overgrowth.

This is one reason why it's so important to only take antibiotics when absolutely necessary. Doctors tend to over-prescribe antibiotics, and this is leading to pathogens becoming resistant to antibiotics.

For a yeast infection, either a cream (over the counter) or Diflucan (an Rx med) will work.

BTW, who was the bozo that prescribed metronidazole for a YEAST infection? It's great for BV and other specialized infections.
