Here is your answer:

They are alike in that they are both plant cells. They both have cell walls, a membrane-bound nucleus with DNA, and membrane-bound organelles.

They are different in that elodea cells have chloroplasts and undergo photosynthesis. Onions grow underground, so they cannot photosynthesize. However, onion tops grow above ground, so they have chloroplasts and undergo photosynthesis.
