B. information can be transmitted from these extracellular structures to the cytoplasm. molecules can bind to the cell receptors and transmit information into the cell since they cannot pass through the cell membrane.

not A. becauseyou would breakdown the cell structure if you did that.
not C. because the structures are mostly made from carbohydrates and proteins.
not D. because it isn't (can't remember)
not E. because water molecules can pass through the cell membrane without regulation.
