Compare the porosity and the permeability of an aquifer with the porosity and the permeability of a layer of shale beneath the aquifer.

porosity - is the percent of a material's volume that is pore space.
permeability - is the rate at which water or other liquids pass through the pore spaces of a rock.

Tell me everything you can.

The aquifer is rock that is porous enough to have have water in it
The shale layer below the aquifer is not porous enough to hold much water and whatever water is in it moves very slowly
