Why do plants have more than one pigment in their chloroplasts and what advantage does this have for the plant? Also, why do leaves turn yellow, orange, and red in Autumn/Fall?

Each pigment is specific for a certain wavelength that is absorbs from the sun. By having more than one, it can harvest more light, and use that to channel the sun's energy into making more carbohydrates. Leaves change color during autumn because the chlorophyll breaks down -- the green pigment -- allowing the yellow to orange colors to become visible and give the leaves this characteristic trait.
