FIU is located roughly at 25° 45′ 9″ N, 80° 22′ 40″ W. How many nautical miles is FIU from the equator?

I have tried to solve several ways but just CAN'T get the answer!!! UUggghhhh....Please help! Thank you so much and God bless for taking your time to help others like me Slight Smile

Since a straight line would be the distance, you only need 25° 45′ 9″ N:
Every minute is a nautical mile (degrees minutes seconds):

25 degrees * 60 + 45 + 9 seconds/60 = 1545.15 minutes = 1545.15 nautical miles to the equator
