Do regular incandescent light bulbs give off UV light?
My son has a hereditary condition that causes him to be sensitive to UV light. Does anyone know if incandescent light bulbs give off UV? We're having to try to find something to replace our compact fluorescent bulbs because he is having a reaction to them.

I'm not sure this is going to help but...
a Tungsten filament like you'd get in an incandescent bulb is capable of emitting down to about 325 nm which is into the near-UV part of the spectrum. However I don't know if a normal house bulb would get enough power for that. short answer, you could try it but you might need to get filters.

The standard incandescent light bulb does not give off any UV light. You can recognise this because clothing which has been laundered using a UV whitening agent does not "Glow white" in incandescent light.
