ADP is adenosine diphosphate. ATP is adenosine triphosphate. Simply looking at the names, we can see that ATP has one more phosphate. ATP/ADP are the energy exchange currency in our bodies, with ATP having higher energy. When we use the energy in an ATP molecule, ADP results. But to synthesize and ATP molecule from ADP, we must add:

A. Phosphates and energy
