How is stem cell research -embryonic and adult stem cell research performed in a laboratory?

The process is really complicated, but in embryonic stem cells, they fertilize an egg by in vitro fert... and then the cell becomes a blastocyst about 3-5 days later and then they suck out those cells that are forming because they haven't differentiated into anything, so those cells can become heart/muscle/brain cells or anything. That's why it's so important to work with them because the cells can become anything. Somatic stem cells are quite different though and scientists are still finding new places that they grow in.
