I need a technical difference between them. Could a difference be that lakes do not have vegetation growing out of the mass of water, but swamps do???

Sort of... but a lake has more oxygen and a different ecosystem than swamp waters, too. And there is a difference between a bog and a swamp and a marsh based on location, water source, and plant types. I think the best answer would be that lakes develop a thermocline (two separated levels of different temperature waters) while swamps which are way too shallow,do not. Si?
