The MTBF of a system component is 2,500 cycles.  Using Table 3.2 and the equations provided in our textbook, set up your formulae and then answer the following questions:

a.   What is the probability that the component will not fail before 5,000 cycles?  What is the probability that the component will fail?

b.   What is the probability that the component will not fail before 10,000 cycles?  What is the probability that the component will fail?

Here is table 3.2 for reference.

This one is tough. I found a resource that might help you though. I don't know the answer, unfortunately.

No, I found out I knew someone in my class and he showed me the correct formula to use.

Cool, thanks for updating. If you'd like to share that formula, feel free to do so in case someone in the future needs it.

Good idea! Have you had a chance to look at part C again on my other question? The one about the milk inflation. You got part B right, but something is wrong with C. I'm able to check the answer before I submit it, so that's how I know it's not right.
