depurination and deamination

is depurination considered deletion??
is deanimation considered a substitution??

Look up the definitions:

Depurination ... yes... it is a form of deletion.

And no, deamination is when you remove an amino group.

ok so depurination leaves the backbone. it does not leave a gap to be repaired by dna polymerase. does it get read as a blank in the sequence or no?
deamination the amine group is removed but it is definitlely replaced. in the most common one cytosine is replaced by uracil. however i dont think this is very permenant becuase uracil would get noticed pretty fast.

my main question was simply are these generally well known in cell bio to be substitution and deletion? i really cant find the answer anywhere so im thinking its not even though it seems like it is.

Deamination is usually used to describe amino acid biochemistry. For instance, before converting amino acids into intermediates for energy metabolism, they must first undergo deamination (striping off the amino group (–NH2), leaving a carbon skeleton), which later becomes urea. Not too familiar with how it works in DNA.

In DNA, After depurination, an apurinic site is formed where the sugar phosphate backbone remains and the sugar ring has a hydroxyl (-OH) group in the place of the purine.
