Assume that glyceraldehyde-phosphate dehydrogenase was inhibited with iodoacetic acid.  Which glycolytic intermediate would you expect to accumulate most rapidly, and why?

Keep in mind that this step of the glycolytic pathway is reversible.

If we are going from glucose to pyruvate, the intermediate "Glyceraldehyde 3-Phosphate" would accumulate, as it is the substrate for the enzyme that is inhibited.

If we were going from pyruvate to Glucose, the intermediate "1,3-Bisphosphoglycerate" would accumulate.

Cheers!
