I am working on a DIY project that requires a bunch of electronic components but there are 2 that I cannot find in the market (many claim that they are too old).

If anyone knows what could substitute for the below transistors please share your knowledge with me and teach me how to find substitutes in the future (I've tried google already)

SOT23 PNP transistor BCW89
SOT23 NPN transistor BCW60D

PS: I am IC illiterate...

Thank you very much! Slight Smile

Yes, they can be substituted if I worked on it, even it was the old old day 1955 Ge made transistor type. To substitute Ge with Si transistor, biasing is needed to adjust again by changing the voltage divider network. Therefore, understanding the whole circuit is the first major task. Second, select transistor has the same power, a better Veco rate, a better beta rate and a better frequency working range.

Ok - I had to get my 18 year old ECG (now Phillips) substitution book.

The BCW89 is a NPN Silicon Gen. Purpose high voltage driver cross referencing to a ECG 2410.
Collector-base Volts 180V, Collector to Emitter 160V, Base to Emitter 6V, Max Collector current 0.6A, Max devive dissipation in Watts .350W (350mW), Max Frequency 300MHz

The BCW 60D is a general purpose NPN Silicon Low noise driver AF, RF, cross references to a ECG2408. Collector to Base Volts 80, Collector to Emitter Volts 65V, Max Collector current .2A (200mA), Max device dissipation in Watts .2W (200mW), Max Frequency 300MHz

Unfortunately my book does not have a reverse reference section which would list any similar/ identical devices with same specs. There are plenty of transistors you can use as substitutes.... you just have to do some digging.... Frowning Face(
