1. Erythrocytes are red blood cells (RBC) which have a bi-concave shape, no nucleus, and lots of haemoglobin to transport oxygen around the body within the cell.

2. The formation of RBC is called 'differentiation', which occurs from stem cells (haemocytoblast) in the bone marrow.

1. In humans, normal erythrocytes are anucleate, biconcave discs about 7 micrometers in diameter.  They thin cell membranes and no intracellular structures except for hemoglobin molecules arranged in a regular network.
