it is simply 5.. coz (-2,-2) is 2 blocks below x-axis and y=3 is 3 blocks above x-axis...
there are formula to calculate distance from line to line or line to point in case which the line is an oblique line not a vertical or horizontal line..

One approach is to plot on graph paper and count to find the answer. The closest point to (-2,-2) that is on the line is (-2,3). Answer is 2+3=5
