 Sometimes the reflex response is diminished or absent—a phenomenon termed hyporeflexia. Do you think hyporeflexia would be caused by disorders of the central nervous system or of the peripheral nervous system? Explain your reasoning.

Hyporeflexia is an absent or diminished response to tapping. It usually indicates a disease that involves one or more of the components of the two-neuron reflex arc itself.

Hyporeflexia is generally seen in flaccid paralysis which is usually caused by problems with the peripheral nervous system.

Hyporeflexia is generally seen in flaccid paralysis which is usually caused by problems with the PNS.
