Compare the molecules cyclohexane & benzene.

cyclohexane is just a 6 membered ring, meaning it has 6 carbons. Each carbon is sp3 hybridized and there are only carbon to carbon bonds and carbon to hydrogen bonds. Each carbon is bonded to 2 carbons and 2 hydrogens.

Benzene, is an aromatic 6 membered ring. There are 6 carbons, but every other carbon to carbon bond is a double bond. Each carbon has a carbon to carbon double bond, a carbon to carbon single bond, and one carbon to hydrogen bond. The carbons are all sp2 hybridized.
