1.   Describe the effect that pilocarpine had on the heart and why it had this effect.

1. Pilocarpine decreased the heart rate because it is an acetylcholine agonist. It decreased the frequency of action potentials.

2. As an acetylcholine antagonist, atropine would increase the heart rate working in opposition to acetylcholine.
