heyy! I am doing a science lab report and my problem is this:
1.   Are corn seeds of type I (no treatment) and type II (heat treatment) viable?
2.   Does the heat exposure affect corn seed viability?

is this hypothesis a good one?
If the seed was accidentally boiled then the seed won’t grow because the heat will kill the seed.

Hey myribaumann,

a hypothesis is an educated guess based on a variable being experimented (in your case, heat or temperature increases). It uses prior knowledge of the scientific subject being studied.

This is how it should be written:

We predict that boiling the seed accidentally will prevent the organism from germinating or growing to its full potential since heat has been shown to decrease the viability of seeds by denaturing the proteins it contains and weakening its cell wall structure.

Tell me what you think.

Hi myribaumann!

Check out this thread. It shows you step-by-step how to write a scientific manuscript.  Slight Smile
