●   From the perspective of the interviewee: The types of responses possible in qualitative interviewing are much more varied than in quantitative surveys in that they allow the “voice” of the interviewee to be heard.
●   Data rich with description: The types of data collected in qualitative interviews are often rich with descriptive detail around the events, experiences, opinions, or feelings that he or she is describing.
●   Development of new theories: While quantitative research is primarily concerned with testing and refining existing theories, data from qualitative interviews can contribute to the development of new theories where none had previously existed, especially when it comes to studying understudied or previously unstudied populations.
●   Development of new avenues of research: Qualitative interviewing data can create theories that can feed into the future research of other social scientists, including those who use quantitative techniques; this can lead to a greater understanding of these individuals and more generalizable research findings.
