the cell surface glycoprotein ICAM-1 is an N-glycosylated, single-pass transmembrane molecule,which is costitutively expressed on the apical surface of endothelial cells in the blood vessels in the brain.This glycoprotein has a role in inter-cellular adhesion as a cell surface receptor.
