Discuss the issue of private school versus public school in Canada. Which type of school would you send your children to if you had the choice, and why? Alternatively, would you consider sending your child to Japan for schooling? Why or why not? Do you think the same amount of violence occurs in schools regardless of whether the school is public or private?

A good answer will include a summary of differences between private and public education (e.g., private school graduates are disproportionately represented in the various institutional elites). Schooling in Japan produces impressive results (students in Japan outperform students in most other high-income nations), but entrance to college and university is decreased by competitive examinations.
