Drug Absorption and Volume of Distribution

Absorption refers to the movement of the drug from the site of administration to the bloodstream, not the clearance from the bloodstream.  A reduced absorption rate will most likely delay the onset of action.  Does that make sense?  


2.  Voume of distribution = total amount of drug in the body/ drug blood plamsa concentration

so if you plug in any simple numbers that would represent Drug A and B to see if plasma concentration must be greater, less than, or equal:

We know the volume of distribution is greater for A and that the total amount is the same

Drug A: Volume of distribution 4 = 2 / ?  

Drug B: Volume of distribution 2 = 2 / ?

Now just solve:

Drug A: Volume of distribution 4 = 2 / 0.5

Drug B: Volume of distribution 2 = 2 / 1

Therefore A is Less than B.
