Specifically during prophase 1 of meiosis. I don't think they do, but I need to know why they do not, or if I'm wrong, why they do. I can't find it anywhere in my textbook, and I'm just not grasping this meiosis concept very well. Any help is appreciated.

They act as homologous pairs even though they technically do are not because they do not code for the same alleles
