As is the case with many works by this composer in this particular genre, this one does not preclude the possibility that?
 
  a) in performance the polyphonic texture could be rendered monophonically
  b) the omission of the refrain
  c) the adaptation of an altogether different text
  d) other voices were added, either as accompaniment or in the form of improvised counterpoint
