The difference between medieval universities and old monastic schools was that
 
  A) the universities offered a broader range of subjects to study.
  B) nearly all universities were located in important towns and cities due to the increase in trade and knowledge coming with it.
  C) monks did not teach at university.
  D) universities were attended by all segments of society; monastic schools were attended by elites.
