Egyptians spent almost two millennia developing the technique of preserving a body, a process we call mummification. Why did the Egyptians mummify bodies?

  A) The Egyptians believed firmly that the only way to honor the life of a person was to preserve the body in death. In this way, the deeds of the person would live on eternally.
  B) The Egyptians believed that it was an opportunity to bid farewell to the person and visit as necessary without having to observe the process of decay. This provided comfort to those left behind and honor to the deceased.
  C) The Egyptians believed that the soul is immortal and that it will carry on in the afterlife. In order for this to occur, the soul must have a body to rejoin, therefore, the body must be preserved.
  D) All of these
  E) None of these
