A majority of slaves who ran away from their captivity in the Deep South
 
  a. stood a better chance of making their escape permanent if they fled by sea.
  b. were likely to be captured and punished.
  c. could not trust other slaves to hide and feed them.
  d. had no help from runaway slaves.
  e. all of these choices.
