How might the fate of two hybridizing populations, i.e., whether or not they persist as distinct populations, depend on the kind of isolating barriers that reduce gene exchange between them?

I was thinking maybe land clearing can reduce gene flow in two hybridizing populations.

Land clearing is the process of removing trees, stumps, brush, stones and other obstacles from an area as required to increase the size of the crop producing land base.
