Since life is a series of narratives and people are born storytellers, narratives add
clarity and interest to speeches. They can also serve as persuasive evidence, establish common
ground between speakers and listeners, and discuss conflict when a direct approach is
unacceptable. Quality narratives have probability (they are coherent) and fidelity (they sound
true).
